We are now in the second week of the new year 2016.
Have you decided on your resolutions for 2016 and worked out what you
want to do and accomplish this year?
It is still not too late to decide what goals you want to have and what you
plan to do to reach your goals.
Hope you are not still procrastinating, putting off your decisions and
allowing procrastination to be the thief of your precious time.
If you have not yet made your decisions on your new resolutions and have
not achieved your old resolutions, here is a resolution you can use, which
is guaranteed to be very easy to implement!
Is this your resolution for 2016?
Do you really want this as your resolution for 2016?
Have you heard of or read the story of the young farmer?
It goes something like this…
A tourist was visiting a small town and walking out to the field to watch the
farmers working on their land. All the farmers were working hard, ploughing
and sowing seeds, except for one young man who was dressed as a farmer,
sitting on the ground, away from all the other farmers. The tourist walked up
to this guy and started to talk to him.
The conversation went something like this..
Tourist: Hi, young man. Hot day isn’t it? How is life?
Farmer: Yeah! Life is good!
Tourist: How is work?
Farmer: Fine. I have finished my work for the day!
Tourist: Really? So what are you going to do for the rest of the day?
Farmer: Nothing!
Tourist: Why are you so lazy and wasting your time?
Farmer: I am not lazy. I am not wasting time.
Tourist: Surely there must be something you can do or want to do ?
Farmer: Well, yes. I have only used half my field for planting. I guess I can
plant more crops and make more money.
Tourist: Why are you not doing that? With more money, you can enjoy life!
Farmer: No need to do that! I am happy and enjoying life now!
Do you want to be like this young farmer who is very easily contented and
does not want to make more money?
Can you really afford to be like him, waste your time, have no ambition and
do nothing to improve your life?
Some people can,… if they were “born with silver spoons” and never have to
worry about money.
The rest who are not so fortunate will have to earn money to make a living
and survive in this world.
With the costs of living increasing and people losing their jobs, many people
are already in trouble and are struggling to survive. They will need to earn
more money to make ends meet.
How many of us actually do not want more money?
This is not about being materialistic.
It is about being realistic.
We are living in a very fast changing world where the actions taken by the
governments of any big country can quickly affect other countries, causing
devaluations of their currencies and making many people become poorer.
For most people, wanting to have more money now is no longer an option
which many people can choose to ignore, but a real necessity in order to
survive and live comfortably.
Have you noticed how different people, who are not super rich, responded
when asked about their new year resolutions?
Some answers are very obvious about wanting to earn more money, to have
better jobs and more financial freedom…
Other common answers are…
Want to be a better person than last year, … This does not really tell us much,
does it?
Want to be healthy,…There is no mention of any desire to make more money,
but with the rising costs of medicines, it is clear that the person will need to
have more money to afford good healthcare.
Have you heard of this very strange answer?
Want to have more wives! Have you wondered what this guy was thinking
about? Some people say that one wife is already one too many! Why is one
wife not enough for this guy? He might have been joking, but if you think
deeper, he is really after more money, isn’t he? Other people want to have
more money to buy more cars or houses… Looks like, this guy wants more
money to afford to have more wives!
In summary, most, if not all, answers about new year resolutions are related
to a desire to make more money, whether money is clearly mentioned or not,
unless perhaps if the person is already very rich.
As mentioned before, this is not really being materialistic but being realistic,
because we are living in a very competitive world and we will left behind to
suffer if we do not quickly adapt to the sudden rapid changes.
Now, without being too obsessed about money, if you are still wasting your
time and just drifting in life, why not make plans and take some action to
improve your lives?
Time really flies by very fast. Very soon another year will have gone past.
You will be wondering why you have not achieved much and regretting all
the time lost, if you had not made plans now to take action to make some
improvements in your lives.
Many people say that time is money.
And time lost is money lost and opportunities lost.
Have you wondered which of the two is more important to you?
Which do you want more of, if you can only choose one of the two?
If you want to find out what many people think about this and if there is
something even more important than these two commodities…

So, what are your new year 2016 resolutions?
Hope they are much better than the one in the photo or image above!
And after about 12 months or less, you can proudly say you have achieved
your resolutions for this year and have made significant improvements in
your lives!
